The results of the wildfire of 2021 were catastrophic for Northern Evia. Nearly 1.000,000 acres turned to ashes. This disaster is primarily addressed to the environment and the bees. Their importance to nature is enormous, as they preserve the biodiversity of the ecosystem. Man is the next recipient of these devastating results, as without nature and the bees he will not be able to survive.
Beekeepers, who are directly dependent on the bee and the environment have been irreparably affected. More specifically:
At least 10,000 swarms were lost.
The plant species that feed the bees have been lost, a problem that will continue for the next two years.
Hundreds of beekeepers lost more than 10,000 tonnes of honey production and their swarms, with local beekeepers estimated at 350.
Their equipment was lost (hives, bee food, measuring instruments, fittings, wiring and harvesting equipment).
For all these reasons, we must all fight for a common goal, which is none other than the recovery of the environment!
The need
Tens of thousands of bees are gone. Beekeepers are now called to face the devastating loses of the wildfires in Northern Evia. What cannot be lost is hope and faith to a new beginning! Support beekeepers and help bees regain their place in the ecosystem. Let’s make a start, together!
The cause
Beegin is a collective effort for the recovery of the environment. Forests are rich and complex ecosystems, that maintain many species of flora and fauna that are interdependent with each other. Bees are part of this ecosystem. Over 15 years now, they have been dealing with climate change and many other factors that lead to their extinction. Beegin’s main concern is to methodically support the recovery of nature, without, however, hindering its operation.
In collaboration with INSTECO, we actively support beekeepers, the people who directly take care of the bees, in order to maintain their swarms. Because starting with the support of bees and beekeepers, we help nature, giving it space and time to “blossom” again.
